Abigail Grant, MD, FAAP

Dr. Abigail Grant serves as an outpatient pediatrician and medical director of the University of Washington-Harborview Pediatric Clinic.  She attended Allegheny College and University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine before coming to Seattle for residency. Dr. Grant provides primary care to children of diverse backgrounds including many refugee and immigrant families, and families challenged by complex social and medical conditions. She has established a medical home-Head Start partnership to directly connect families with early learning programs and is currently focused on developmental screening for diverse patient populations.

Dr. Grant is faculty for Seattle Children’s REACH (Resident Education and Advocacy for Child Health) program and mentors residents interested in child advocacy locally and globally. She is also a trainer for Promoting First Relationships and provides this training to pediatric residents during their intern year.

WCAAP is lucky to have Dr. Grant serving the Chapter as co-chair of the Early Learning Committee. She has special interest in supporting early childhood development among diverse populations by fostering early child-caregiver relationships using the Promoting First Relationships framework, identifying family stressors and developmental concerns through tools that reach all families regardless of language or literacy level, and partnering with community-based organizations.

“I value the opportunity to collaborate with other pediatricians across our state to advocate for children and families,” says Dr. Grant of her involvement with WCAAP. “The WCAAP allows pediatricians to use their expertise from caring for patients every day to influence systems through legislative advocacy, practice transformation, and educational outreach.”

In addition to her involvement with WCAAP, Dr. Grant serves on the Advisory Board for the Washington Medical-Legal Partnership. When she is not seeing patients or working with residents, you can find Dr. Grant painting cooking, traveling, and running.
