Former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Tip O’Neill is usually credited with coining the phrase “all politics is local.” It’s a saying WCAAP members have taken to heart this year and put into action by meeting with legislators while they are in their home districts. These meetings are crucial to help lay the foundation that the Chapter’s legislative advocacy is built upon.
In the past month, WCAAP members in Yakima met with 14th district legislators Sen. Curtis King and Rep. Gina Mosbrucher (see this recap); members in Southwest Washington met with Reps. Stonier, Harris, and Wylie and Sen. Lynda Wilson (see this recap); members in the Tri-Cities met with Sen. Sharon Brown; and members in Spokane’s 6th district met with Rep. Mike Volz. More meetings are scheduled in Tri-Cities, Tacoma, Olympia, Bainbridge Island, and North Seattle. All WCAAP members are welcome at these meetings – or to spearhead a meeting in your own community – please let us know if you would like to learn more!
