Each year, WCAAP members and partners from all over Washington gather in Olympia to meet directly with legislators and staff, hear from policymakers, and advocate for kids. It’s an empowering way to make an impact on the issues that affect child health statewide. Our 2020 Advocacy Day is scheduled for January 14, 2020 – we hope you will join us! Registration is now open.
Why should you attend WCAAP Advocacy Day?
Everyone has their own reason for speaking up for kids at Advocacy Day. Here are just a few of the reasons people tell us they appreciate Advocacy Day:
Loved the inspiration and collaboration opportunities! I felt like I was part of democracy in action. It was so inspirational to hear from our leaders in Olympia as well and to know how much they seek to collaborate on these important topics.
Great networking and educational value; it is helpful to understand our political process and advocate for children of our state.
We all need to step outside our own day to day patient care to advocate for the good of all patients.
It is a great experience and gets you excited about being a pediatrician again!
Support Advocacy Day
Whether you are able to attend Advocacy Day or not, you can support our work by donating to WCAAP’s advocacy efforts. This is a great way to help defray costs and ensure Advocacy Day remains a free annual event for providers throughout the state.
WCAAP is now officially a 501c3 to better reflect our mission to optimize the health and well-being of children and their families while supporting pediatricians in their development and practice. Donations made to the Washington Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics are now tax deductible.
