Reflections on Trust in Medicine
Join WCAAP and Dr. Douglas Diekema for a discussion about the importance of trust in medicine, the recent decline in trust in society and pediatric patient encounters, the role of trust in vaccine acceptance and vaccine hesitancy, three current approaches to vaccine hesitancy (and why two of those undermine trust), and identifying the elements of a way forward.
Douglas S. Diekema, MD, MPH, FAAP is the Co-Director of Education at the Treuman Katz Center for Pediatric Bioethics and Chair of the Institutional Review Board Committee at Seattle Children’s Hospital. He is a Professor in the UW SOM Department of Pediatrics’ Division of Bioethics and Palliative Care, and a Professor in the Division of Emergency Medicine.
