Learn strategies from state and national leaders and clinicians at the forefront of value-based care in pediatrics to integrate care and improve outcomes. This day-long forum will have a strong emphasis on pediatric life stages and social determinants of health. Morning plenary speakers and afternoon breakout sessions will focus on the most effective ways to improve child health and to support the use of medical homes.

Featuring Key Note Speakers: Sue Birch, RN, MBA, Director, Washington State Health Care Authority, and Amy Compton Phillips, MD, executive vice president and chief clinical officer, Providence St. Joseph Health.

As HCA director, Sue Birch is focused on transforming the health care delivery system to better serve those for whom we purchase care, while keeping health care costs in check. Before joining HCA, Birch spent nearly seven years as the executive director of the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy and Financing, where she led the state’s successful implementation of the Affordable Care Act. Birch also served as chief executive officer of the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association.

Dr. Compton-Phillips is responsible for enhancing health care and health outcomes across the seven-state Providence system and has an extensive background in leading development of high-performing health care organizations. Prior to joining Providence in 2015, Dr. Compton-Phillips served as the chief quality officer at Kaiser Permanente, where she focused on improving the value of care delivery.

Break-out sessions will include:

  • Financing value-based care and achieving outcomes for kids on Medicaid, the San Diego experience
  • Supporting the social needs of young children and their families
  • Evidence-based treatment for common school-aged behavioral health needs
  • Implementing trauma-informed care
  • Adolescent depression screening and increasing adolescent well care.
