The 2026 legislative session is just around the corner, and WCAAP is prepared to lead with a strong, child-focused agenda. Our priorities are shaped by the real-world experiences of pediatricians across Washington who are caring for kids every day. This year, we’re championing policies that protect access to care, strengthen behavioral health systems, and preserve public health tools like vaccines.
Take a look at our 2026 legislative preview and discover simple, effective ways you can help advocate for children’s health this session.
WCAAP’s 2026 Legislative Priorities
The Washington Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (WCAAP) has prepared its 2026 legislative agenda, reaffirming its commitment to advancing health equity and improving the well-being of children and families across Washington State. In addition to its top priorities, WCAAP will continue to support other legislative efforts that promote pediatric health as they emerge throughout the session.
Join the Movement for Child Health
As trusted voices for children, teens and families, pediatric providers play a crucial role in advocacy. WCAAP invites members and colleagues to participate in upcoming policy discussions, testify during legislative sessions, and share firsthand experiences that illustrate the real-world impact of these issues.
We look forward to keeping you up to date on these important issues throughout the 2026 session and hope you will join us to advocate on behalf of all kids in Washington. Here is how you can get involved:
- Join us for Advocacy Day 2026, January 23 at the Capitol.
- Sign up to receive action alerts during session. (Completing alerts takes minutes.)
- Sign up to provide testimony. (You can do it from the comfort of your own desk! 2-3 hour commitment.)
- Share your stories of patient access, patient mental health needs, access to vaccines and more (15 minutes)
