Meta Lee, MD, MSEd, FAAP

Meta Lee, MD, MSEd, FAAP grew up in Hawaii, attended UCLA for both undergraduate and medical school, and completed her pediatric residency at Mount Sinai Medical Center. She also completed fellowships in Teaching and Educational Leadership at University of Southern California, where she received a Master’s in Medical Education. Dr. Lee served as Associate Director of Medical Education, Pediatric Clerkship Director, and Chair of Pediatric Resident Education at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine for 12 years, before moving to Washington in 2010.

Dr. Lee has been in private practice in Renton for 9 years, currently serving as Medical Director of Valley Children’s Clinic, and Chief of Pediatrics at Valley Medical Center. She has served as a Trustee on the WCAAP board since 2014, and has been actively involved on the legislative committee. Dr. Lee has lent her expertise on raising the tobacco purchase age to 21 and improving laws on e-cigarette use. She also participates on the Sustainability and Engagement committee, working to increase membership and put on more social events and networking opportunities for pediatricians in our state.

“I have enjoyed my time with WCAAP because it’s provided a professional home for me,” says Dr. Lee. “To be able to get together with other pediatricians in the state and learn what others are doing, to join forces and work on agenda items that benefit children and their families, to make meaningful changes at the legislative level that impact child health has been rewarding.”

In addition to her work with the WCAAP, Dr. Lee has also been on the Board of Directors for the Mercer Island Community Fund, where she served as Chair of Grant Committee for 4 years, distributing funding for community projects and organizations that benefit the Mercer Island community.

Dr. Lee lives in Mercer Island with her husband and two daughters (both attending the University of Washington). During her free time, she enjoys taking classes at Pacific Northwest Ballet and competing on the Robinswood Ladies Tennis League.
