Part I: The Business Case for Providing Fluoride Varnish in the Medical Setting (30 min)
A pediatrician and a pediatric practice manager who have implemented oral health services (i.e. fluoride varnish) in their practices and seen a financial benefit will share their stories. An AAP coding expert will also explain how best to code and bill for these services.
Part II: Providing Preventive Oral Health Services in Practice (30 min)
A pediatrician and a pediatric dentist team will educate viewers about the prevalence, disparities, and consequences of oral health disease in children and provide strategies to improve outcomes. Viewers will learn how to use the AAP Bright Futures Oral Health Risk Assessment tool and implement oral health programs. Viewers will also learn the knee-to-knee examination and how to apply fluoride varnish on children via an educational video of a live demonstration with a patient in practice.
The AAP gratefully acknowledges support for this course in the form of an educational grant from Colgate. This video series and chat party are not eligible for Continuing Medical Education (CME) or Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Part 2 credit.
