WCAAP is using a new program to help drive health content to parents and to encourage families to call their pediatric clinic for care. The Bright by Text program provides relevant information on child development – plus local events and resources – to parents and caregivers of children prenatal to age 8 in Washington State via text message.
Families sign up to receive messages in English or Spanish that are specific to the age of their child and as well as links to local community resources targeted by zip code. Bright By Text messages include research-based content on child development and learning, as well as information about valuable community services and resources. Content is created by trusted partners like the American Academy of Pediatrics, Delta Dental Foundation, PBS, and Vroom. This handout explains more about the program.
WCAAP can help Washington’s pediatric providers by using Bright By Text to disseminate information about staying up-to-date on vaccines and preventive care, developmental milestones, and more. This will be especially helpful to providers statewide as we’re trying to get families back into clinics and caught up on missed visits during COVID-19. But we need your help to get families signed up to receive the texts!
Encourage families to sign up by texting the word WAKIDS to 274448. You can download this one-page info sheet for parents (in English and Spanish) that has all of the directions they need to start using Bright By Text.
