WCAAP Gaining Momentum, Building on Success
Elizabeth Meade, MD, FAAP

It is with a real sense of honor and awe that I start my term as WCAAP President. I am inspired and humbled on a daily basis by what this incredible organization and its members are able to achieve. Despite the increasing challenges that pediatric providers are facing with every year that goes by, I have never witnessed more passion for children or motivation to make their lives better from our membership than I have in the last year.

August is National Immunization Awareness Month

Tools & resources to help you ensure your patients are up-to-date

August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM). This annual observance highlights the efforts of health care providers to protect patients of all ages against vaccine-preventable diseases through on-time vaccination. NIAM is a good time to ensure your patients are up-to-date on recommended vaccines. Research has consistently shown that healthcare professionals are the most trusted source of vaccine information for parents and patients.

In Case You Missed It...

Kudos to Shaquita Bell, MD, FAAP for her July 29 blog post in the AAP Voices series highlighting how racism harms the health and well-being of children, teens, young adults and their families. In the post, Dr. Bell writes: "In my mind, our ultimate goal should be health equity, with each and every patient, family, and community able to achieve their ideal state of health through fair, just, and optimized care to meet their individual and collective needs. But we cannot achieve health equity without first addressing racism." Read the full blog post here.

Thank you to Dr. Ed Marcuse for sharing these thought-provoking words from a recent presentation:
