As we approach the end of the year, WCAAP has finalized its 2025 legislative agenda, which reflects our top priorities for the 2025 session to advance health equity and improve child health. This year, our main focuses will be:
- Restoring enhanced pediatric primary care rates
- Passing the Medicaid Access Program
- Ending the sale of flavored tobacco products
- Restoring and expand the Student Assistance Program
We have issue briefs for each of these items linked above.
Budget Considerations
Unfortunately, the state budget forecast is grim. A $10-$12 billion shortfall is anticipated over the next four-year period, and state agencies have been asked to identify what programs are “optional” and could be cut. As we get closer to legislative budget time, we will be able to better identify if revenue sources could ease the situation or if there will indeed be cuts to state programs. This context will make some of our agenda challenging to achieve, but we know these are the right priorities for kids.
WCAAP Advocacy Day

We Need Your Patient Stories!
Stories about the patients you care for are our single most effective tool to pass equitable policies that improve the health and well-being for all Washington children and teens. We are specifically looking for stories that relate to one of your priority issues listed above. If you have one, please take 10 minutes and share with us here.
