Francie Chalmers, MD, FAAP
Trustee, WCAAP

If your pediatric practice is struggling on the business side during the COVID-19 Pandemic you are not alone. Your WCAAP staff are working overtime to help. See the numerous resources on the COVID-19 page of the Chapter website.

PCC, one of the pediatric EHR solutions, has created a COVID-19 Forum which offers links to government documents regarding Small Business Administration Loans, The Payroll Protection Program loans, unemployment options that fall short of actual layoffs so employees can retain their benefits, and discussion forums on numerous topics having to do with the business impact of COVID-19.

Go here pediatricsupport.com/covid19info to get to this Forum.

Also on the Forum platform you can find links to series of weekly webinars addressing the above topics. This link takes you to the 4/2/20 webinar: https://forum.pediatricsupport.com/t/webinar-3-video-collateral-business-impact-of-covid19/2328

The first webinar was on March 19th and the most recent was on Tuesday April 7th. They start at 4 pm PDT and typically run for a couple hours. The primary presenters are Chip Hart, practice management consultant from PCC, and Paulie Vanchiere, CPA, from Pediatric Management Institute. They also have guest speakers each week, most recently Dr. Suzanne Behrman and an attorney, Kerin who spoke 4/2/20 on the ins and outs of the CARES Act disaster loan options (EIDL and PPP), unemployment options, and FMLA guidelines.

Registration is free and available on the Forum website. If you can’t make it to a scheduled webinar, or develop brain freeze by 90 minutes in, the slide decks and recorded webinars are available by going to the PMI website at pediatricsupport.com/covid19info

In the meantime, you can lose yourself as you wish on the COVID-19 Forum surfing among numerous resources and blogposts.
