The Washington State Immunization Information System (WAIIS) is a statewide, lifetime immunization registry that tracks immunization records for people of all ages. The system is a secure, web-based application with many tools available for healthcare providers, healthcare organizations, health plans, and schools. It provides a free and user-friendly way for providers to assess immunization rates for their facility. The WAIIS also provides tools for vaccine inventory management and ordering publicly funded vaccines for providers that participate in the Washington Childhood Vaccine Program. The Washington State Immunization Information System can be found at www.waiis.wa.gov.

The IIS training and outreach team provides free training for WAIIS users through various formats. Trainings offered include:

  • In person training (for larger groups)
  • Small group training (via telephone or online meetings),
  • State-wide monthly webinars on a variety of IIS topics (see below)
  • Technical guides and publications.

Individual and group training topics are flexible to meet each group’s training needs. The monthly webinar series covers topics requested by the community or topics that are new to system users.

Do you want to remind/recall patients for immunizations? The Washington State Immunization Information System allows you to pull records in a selected format for patients that are due (reminder) and overdue (recall) for vaccination. The WAIIS can generate this information in several different formats including patient phone lists, mailing labels, postcards, letters, emails and more. This tool integrates well with existing methods you may have to contact patients, like automated appointment reminder systems. The IIS reminder/recall tool makes it quick and easy for medical providers to increase immunization rates by getting patients up to date with vaccination through patient outreach.
