The Department of Health is launching a media campaign soon encouraging parents and caregivers to resume well-child visits and check-ups which have been impacted over the past two years. Providers may experience an increase in phone calls and scheduling requests from their patient populations as a result, so we wanted to give you advance notice in preparation.
As families and households contact you for appointments, many will be due for immunizations. This is a great opportunity to talk about COVID-19 vaccines for those aged 5 and older.
We know from our audience research patients trust your advice above all others when it comes to healthy decision-making. Because of your influence, we are asking for your help in the following ways:
- A toolkit of printable material is available to assist staff navigate questions, which includes both provider and patient resources: Pediatric COVID-19 Vaccines: What Parents/Guardians Should Know (wa.gov)
- If you are not an enrolled COVID-19 vaccine provider, help assist parents and caregivers with local access to the vaccine by directing them to www.VaccinateWA.org
Thank you for keeping your patient populations up to date on all eligible immunizations and important childhood milestones as we work together to resume regular check-ups.
